Born 11 Jan 1811, York County, SC
Died 20 Jan 1876, Jefferson County, AL
Son of [[ROOKER John Hawkins]] and [[THIOMASSON Ann Garland]]. He was named after his mother's father, [[THOMASSON William Pollard|William Pollard Thomasson]], a great grandson of George Thomason, the London bookseller. (Wm Pollard Thomasson's father was George Thomasson and his mother was Mary Pollard. George Thomasson's father was Thomas Thomasson Sr; Thomas was the son of George Thomason - the London bookseller and collector of the Thomason Tracts - and Katherine Hutton. )
His grandfather [[ROOKER John (Rev)|John Rooker]] (Revolutionary War soldier and pioneering Baptist pastor) lived close to 30 years after his birth, so he certainly would have known his grandfather.
